Faculty Residential Fellowships -Opportunities for individuals to
pursue advanced work in the humanities. Projects may contribute to
scholarly knowledge or to the general public's understanding of the humanities.
Recipients might eventually produce scholarly articles, a monograph on a
specialized subject, a book on a broad topic, an archaeological site report, a
translation, an edition, or other scholarly tools.

extramural funding for their research and scholarly activities.

Grants External - Across Disciplines
American Council of
Learned Societies
Support is provided for research in all disciplines of the humanities and
humanities-related social sciences. Full-time research may be undertaken for
six to twelve months. The ultimate goal of the project should be a major
piece of scholarly work by the applicant that will take the form of a monograph
or other equally substantial form of scholarship.
Connecticut Commission on
the Arts
The Artist Fellowship program is designed to encourage the continuing
artistic development of Connecticut's finest creative artists who are seriously
committed to their art form and who have a demonstrated history of professional
activity in the state. The program provides direct support to artists to set
aside time to work, to purchase supplies and equipment, to rent studio/office
space, and to devote full attention to the creation of new work. Artistic
categories alternate every year, with visual artists (working in the
disciplines of digital/cyber art, crafts, painting/works on paper, photography,
sculpture/installation) applying in odd-numbered years and choreographers,
poets, playwrights, fiction writers, composers and film/video artists applying
in even-numbered years.
National
Endowment for the Humanities
Fellowships and Summer Stipends - Support individuals pursuing
advanced research in the humanities that contributes to scholarly knowledge or
to the general public's understanding of the humanities. Fellowships
provide support for projects that can be completed during the tenure of the
award, as well as for work that is part of a long-term endeavor. Recipients
usually produce scholarly articles, monographs on specialized subjects, books
on broad topics, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other
scholarly tools.

American
Society for Theatre Research
Research Fellowship - To underwrite some of the research
expenses of scholars undertaking projects significant to the field of
theatre/performance studies. Amounts up to $4,000.00.

CASVA/National Gallery of Art
Senior Fellowships - Fellowships are for full-time research, and scholars are expected to reside in Washington throughout their fellowship
period and participate in the activities of the Center.
Paul Mellon and Ailsa Mellon Bruce Visiting Senior Fellowships - Short term (up to sixty days) fellowships are for full-time research,
and scholars are expected to reside in Washington throughout their fellowship
period and participate in the activities of the Center.
College Art Association
Millard Meiss Publication Grants - Support book-length scholarly manuscripts in the history of art
and related subjects that have been accepted by a publisher on their merits,
but cannot be published in the most desirable form without a subsidy.

Getty Foundation
Collaborative Research Grants - Provide opportunities for teams of scholars to pursue interpretive research projects that offer new explanations of art and its history. Collaborations that foster a cross-fertilization of ideas and methodologies are particularly encouraged.
Getty Scholars - Each year the Getty Research Institute accepts
applications from established scholars working on projects related to a specific
theme. Recipients are in residence at the Getty Research Institute.

Musicological Society
Publication
Subventions - For individuals or publishers, to help with expenses involved
in the publication of works of musical scholarship, including books, articles,
special issues of journals, and works in non-print media.
Recording Academy Grant
Program
Research Projects - Grants to organizations and individual to support
efforts that advance the research and/or broad reaching implementations of
original research projects related to the impact of music study on early
childhood development, the human development and the medical and occupational
well being of music professionals.
Archiving & Preservation Projects - Grants to organizations and
individual to support efforts that advance the archiving and preservation of
the music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas.
Society for
Music Theory
Publication Subventions - Awarded on a competitive basis to any
member in good standing. Awards are intended to reimburse authors for
out-of-pocket expenses associated with the preparation and publishing of any
article or book in the field of music theory that has been accepted for
publication.
